Who This Service Is For

If you are a licensed professional, physician, nurse, attorney, or other, who requires a substance use evaluation for a licensing board, regulatory body, or legal matter, we offer independent evaluations separate from treatment services.

Who Requests an Evaluation

Most of these evaluations are requested by the licensee or their attorney, rather than by the board. In some cases a decision and order already requires an addiction medicine evaluation. In others, the licensee and their attorney decide to obtain one proactively, before the board process reaches a decision and order, to show good faith.

Once a licensee is on probation, monitoring is handled by the programs the board contracts with. That is a different function from the evaluation described here.

Evaluation vs. Treatment

These evaluations are conducted as an independent assessment. If treatment is subsequently needed, it would be provided by a separate clinician to maintain the integrity of the evaluation.
